Antique snuff mull set

Unique set of 3 tabletop snuff mulls. Chinese, from the Qing Dynasty, circa 1850. Made of bone, clad in repoussé Tibetan silver, each has it's own pick, also trimmed in silver. Each has a hinged lid, 3 feet and a pick holder. A set of museum quality conversation pieces!
Snuff gained popularity during the Qing Dynasty when smoking tobacco was outlawed, but the use of snuff was allowed because the Chinese considered snuff (powdered tobacco) to be a medicinal remedy.
